Dr. Mohamed Bahaa Eldin Abou Shoka
Dr Mohamed Bahaa Eldin Abou Shoka, a former Chief Prosecutor, is one of Egypt’s most prominent lawyers. He has advised on the form and legal workability of the new Investment Laws aimed at easing foreign investment in the region; on the Corporate Governance Code (which became law in August 2016); as well as a number of other developments forming part of Egypt’s National Anti-Corruption Strategy.
His PhD is in Criminal Law and White Collar Criminal Defence from Cairo University, one of the oldest and most respected universities in the world. Like his father, this qualifies him to conduct court cases and arbitrations throughout the Middle East and the wider Arab world. Dr Mohamed regularly represents individuals, businesses and public officials in criminal and anti-corruption cases and arbitrations - both defending and prosecuting, thereby affording him insight into both sides of a case - in jurisdictions as diverse as the UAE, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Lebanon, Jordan, Qatar and beyond, as well as domestically, in Egypt.
Dr Mohamed is a member of Egypt’s prestigious Supreme Legislation Reform Committee, appointed directly by the president.
